‘Good and evil can never be equal. Repel (evil) with that which is better, and see how, then, someone between whom and you was enmity shall become a true friend. Yet none is given such goodness except those who are patient; none is give this but the most fortunate.’

This is a quote from the Qur’an(al-Fussilat 41: 34-5). It seems a bit unreal to imagine our enimies as our friends. But, trust me, it is not impossible to shake hands with those whom we hate. All we need to do is give them a chance. It may be that we do not percieve what they do. Moreover, if they are wrong, isn’t it our duty to show them the right path, as a fellow human being?

The virtues of patience and forgiveness are the foundation of all religions and yet, sadly, today’s world is devoid of these values.

Peace is possible. We just have to let go of ego, envy and evil.
